BASILDON, UK, 1st April 2025
Pharmanovia, a global pharmaceutical company that commercialises novel medicines and revitalises, extends and expands the lifecycle of established medicines, has today announced the expansion of its CNS portfolio with a new licensing agreement for Reagila® (cariprazine) a third-generation atypical antipsychotic indicated for the treatment of schizophrenia in adult patients1.
The agreement will see Pharmanovia acquire rights to all potential indications from existing licensee, CSL Seqirus in Australia and New Zealand, working closely with originator Gedeon Richter on supply and future development opportunities.
Gedeon Richter will remain the Marketing Authorisation holder (MAH), and Pharmanovia will take responsibility for commercial activity in the region.
Schizophrenia affects approximately 1 in 222 adults worldwide and those living with Schizophrenia are 2 to 3 times more likely to die earlier than the general population, according to the World Health Organization2.
Pharmanovia CEO, James Burt commented: “We’re delighted to expand our CNS portfolio with a novel treatment for those living with schizophrenia. Our Australian CNS sales and marketing team already have a strong understanding and knowledge of Reagila® (cariprazine), meaning we’re in a position to support this product from the outset.
“We’re also excited about the opportunities we have in different indications and for lifecycle management development and we look forward to evaluating these further with Gedeon Richter.”
Danielle Dowell, CSL Seqirus’ Executive Director for Commercial Operations APAC, added: “Pharmanovia has strong capabilities and presence both in ANZ and in CNS and has already made an impressive start with Xadago® which they acquired from us in 2024.
“We fully expect them to continue to leverage their capabilities and platform to reach even more patients living with Central Nervous System disorders.”
