About the role:

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, as VP of Europe and Canada you will be responsible for spearheading the commercial strategy and performance of the commercial business (affiliates and distributor business) across the region. You will be responsible for the achievement of revenue growth and contribution targets, including driving successful product launches; and lead/evolve a commercial organisation to support the existing businesses as well as emerging franchises. 

The team includes cluster and country leaders as well as distributors who will help develop and implement sales/marketing/business plans including launch readiness. Critically, you will work effectively with key cross-functional partners (Marketing/ Finance/ Supply Chain/ Regulatory Affairs/ Market Access/ MSLs) required to support and sustain success. As a key member of the commercial leadership team, you will also have a critical part to play in influencing the broader strategic direction for the company, particularly as the company continues to drive profitable growth through life cycle management.

Main responsibilities & duties:

  • Setting the overall vision and strategy for the business across the region
  • Managing the P&L to achieve or exceed agreed upon goals. This includes working seamlessly and effectively cross-functionally
    • Identifying and executing the best GTM Strategy, either with direct local presence or through partners
    • Maximising the potential sales and profit growth of the existing product portfolio, by devising and implementing post-patent brand strategies
    • Optimising geographical and product presence in each territory and Identify product ideas that would complement or enhance existing portfolio
    • Feeding into pipeline Business case generation and keep a high engagement with Local Partners to further develop the Business
    • Leading the successful launch of new products developed by the in-house New Product Development team
    • Overseeing the on-boarding of new product acquisitions since the DD
  • Assessing macro-economic, legislative, regulatory, and industry-specific threats and opportunities to and for the business and determine appropriate adjustments and/or enhancements to the operating model
  • Creating a pipeline of talent and attract, engage, develop, and retain top performers and high potentials. Developing talent in alignment with business needs and succession goals for the business, and holding talent to high performance standards, and managing performance
  • Promoting company as a Partner of Choice to ensure productive relations with key business partners and major stakeholders, and seek to build your own multi-faceted relationships across each of the customer groups
  • Serving as a key spokesperson and representative of the company in Europe and Canada, representing the company professionally, ethically, and morally at all times, and acting on behalf of the company in public forums including with policy makers, opinion leaders and regulators
  • Establishing local presence, equipping each Affiliate according to the Local Legislation, LA requirements, the Local Business/Distribution Model, and pave for the next development
  • Supporting the wider business
    • Working closely with all internal departments to optimise the continuity of supply of products, providing volume sales forecasts, monitoring stock, identify and capture opportunities, correct and prevent supply disruption
    • Interfacing externally, monitoring any change in the environment (Legislation, P&R, Competition, etc.) and working with Dx partners to identify opportunities and tactic in a timely manner
  • Provide timely business updates and performance reviews:
    • Preparing and agreeing realistic but ambitious budgets and forecasts
    • Active management of partners with performance reviews (MKT & Sales Strategy, Sales Performances, SFE, Brand campaign, etc.) as well as ensuring adherence to Code of Conduct/ESG norms.
    • Ensuring accurate and timely submissions of reports and budgets for the region
  • Preparation of Monthly Reports, annual budgets and LRP

About you:

Candidates with about 10 years’ leadership in marketing, business and commercial functions within pharma, biotech or healthcare are likely to have the right level of experience in order to have the deep and broad understanding of the customer and industry landscape of the markets required for this role. We are also looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Business or Marketing
  • Excellent leadership skills, with a proven track record of building high performing teams: able to develop talent, motivate through inspiration and purpose, whilst maintaining the appropriate focus on performance and delivery
  • Deep understanding of the European and Canadian pharmaceutical markets is essential for this role, knowledge of additional markets across the globe is considered a plus
  • Ability to work and lead a cross-functional team in a matrix environment
  • Fully conversant with go to market models across multiple countries and markets
  • A driven and engaging change agent with experience of successfully embedding change
  • Strong negotiating skills with a track record of securing commercial deals including positive pricing and reimbursement agreements
  • Determined, driven to achieve results and entrepreneurial
  • An entrepreneurial and creative approach to developing new, innovative ideas that will stretch the organisation and push the boundaries within the industry
  • Ability to set clear and challenging goals while committing the organisation to improved performance, tenacious and accountable in driving results
  • Able to demonstrate the highest level of integrity, good judgement, and decisiveness
