About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Governance Manager to lead and manage our data governance initiatives with a specific focus on SAP S4/HANA ERP system. Our ideal candidate will be responsible for setting and implementing a robust master data strategy, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across the organisation. You will require a deep understanding of data governance best practices, SAP S4/HANA, and the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders to drive data quality improvements.

Main responsibilities & duties:

Develop and implement master data strategy

  • Define and execute a comprehensive master data management strategy aligned with our organisation’s goals
  • Establish, enforce and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and standards
  • Communicate & train the importance of Master Data Governance to the wider business

SAP S4/HANA data governance

  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of data governance frameworks specifically for SAP S4/HANA
  • Ensure that master data is accurately captured, maintained, and utilised within the SAP S4/HANA environment
  • Ensure best practice is followed for the implementation and use of Master Data Automation or Orchestration tools

Data quality and integrity

  • Monitor and enforce data quality standards to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and reliability
  • Develop and implement data validation and cleansing processes
  • Develop robust and sensible approval routes for all SAP Master Data and implement framework to allow auditability of system inputs
  • Ensure all data governance and entry practices comply with computerised system validation standards

Data stewardship and training

  • Establish and manage a network of data stewards across the organisation
  • Provide training and support to data stewards and other stakeholders on data governance practices and tools
  • Implement and manage a centralised data governance committee/forum for key decisions and tracking of topics linked to data governance 

Stakeholder collaboration

  • Work closely with IT, business units, and data stewards to ensure data governance policies are understood and adhered to
  • Facilitate cross-functional data governance forums and working groups

Compliance and risk management

  • Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards.
  • Identify and mitigate data governance risks.

Performance monitoring and reporting

  • Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of data governance initiatives
  • Prepare and present regular reports on data governance activities and outcomes to senior management

In addition to the above, you will need to demonstrate a good understanding of the real-life use cases to ensure activities are appropriately prioritised, and any technical issues or concerns that could impact decision making are identified and well communicated.

You will collaborate with various technical & non-technical teams across Pharmanovia to understand business problems and deliver solutions appropriate to business requirements.

About you:

Candidates with at least 5 years of experience in data governance, data management – or a related field – should have the skills and knowledge required to be successful in this role. We are also looking for:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Data Management or a related field
  • Relevant certifications in data management and governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are highly desirable
  • Proven experience with SAP S4/HANA data management and governance, preferably in a regulated environment
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance principles, practices, and tools
  • Strong understanding of SAP S4/HANA ERP system and its data structures
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting tools (e.g., SAP MDG, Informatica, Precisely or others)
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and diverse groups e.g. non-technical vs. technical, junior vs. senior, internal vs. external
  • Ability to work collaboratively across various teams and to present effectively and defend performance to the CEO and Board
  • Highly degree of organisation and strong project management skills
  • Self-starter, ability to motivate others around shared goals
  • An excellent eye for detail
  • Passion for technology and its impact on business
