If you are an experienced compliance professional who has been responsible for supporting the development of a strong culture of integrity and compliance in the pharmaceutical sector in China, then we want to hear from you.  

It is a newly created role, and you will be responsible for leading the compliance function for our China operations and includes Ethics & Business Compliance, legal & regulatory and Healthcare Compliance. It is a stand-alone role that reports to our Senior Director ESG & Compliance and Chief Scientific Officer who are both based in the UK. It is a broad ranging role requiring responsible implementation of global policies & procedures and supporting the local business on risk and compliance matters, in addition to setting up the China Medical compliance framework, in collaboration with the Global medical team.

About the role:

Business Compliance

  • Implementation of the Global Code of Conduct and supporting business compliance policies
  • Ensuring policies fully address the China specific laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Implementation of local control processes to ensure the global compliance requirements are fulfilled
  • Conducting regular internal risk assessments, including employee awareness of policies and regular internal audits of third parties
  • Conducting appropriate due diligence on, and consider training for, third parties that may interact with government officials, on behalf of the company
  • Monitoring closely third-party intermediaries who are regularly used to help establish relationships and conduct business in China
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant rules and regulations

Healthcare Compliance

  • Being responsible for developing, implementing, and managing compliance programs and procedures for all promotional materials and interactions in China
  • Developing and maintaining local procedures in alignment with the Global and local requirements
  • Adherence to Codes of Compliance and all relevant laws and regulations including all company policies and procedures
  • Overseeing compliance aspects of relevant third-party providers including managing the review of promotional materials
  • Reviewing and approval of all China promotional materials and communications
  • Coordinating and conducting required healthcare compliance training for employees, and third parties
  • Monitoring and document healthcare compliance, reporting on non-compliance and highlighting risks as well as proposing and implementing risk mitigations plans

About you:

This is a stand-alone role, and the successful applicant will be responsible for keeping up with the changing political and regulatory developments, ensuring that we have all up to date process and procedures in place.

You will also need to have:

  • An accredited qualification aligned to the local Healthcare code
  • A strong understanding of RDPAC, IFPMA and all other relevant code of practices
  • A strong education background, degree educated
  • Full Professional proficiency in UK English (written and verbal) 
  • Experience in design, strategy execution and oversight of compliance gained in the pharmaceutical industry in China
  • Organised, inquisitive, innovative problem solvers with the ability to perceive, understand and interpret facts quickly and precisely
  • Professionals with solid time management skills, the ability to multitask and see the big picture
  • Strong technical skills with experience of preventing, detecting and remediating compliance violations
  • Deep understanding of the Chinese culture
  • A resilient individual who is not afraid to challenge at all levels
  • Data driven in decision making with the ability to analyse, focus on the key issues and communicate with clarity
