About the role:

Reporting to the CEO, as Chief Brand Officer (CBO) you will be responsible for the strategy, direction and success of Pharmanovia’s 22 global medicine brands, both portfolio and pipeline, and the overarching Pharmanovia brand equity. You will be a key member of the senior executive team, which determines and sets the overall strategic direction of the company and be a change agent responsible for building out and leading the Brands team to deliver on our key organisational aims.

Working in tandem with the Chief Commercial Officer, the role will be focused on developing and executing a cogent Franchise plan in each of Pharmanovia’s therapeutic areas; helping to ensure commercial efforts work to support the delivery of profitable growth in each segment.

In this role you will also interface closely with Product Development, Product Innovation, Digital Marketing and Corporate Development functions to ensure that the selected 3 to 5 new product launches per therapy area per year contribute to a comprehensive, well designed, synergistic portfolio of improved and novel medicines. In this regard you will be a key decision maker into development program approval and product / enterprise acquisitions.

As Chief Brands Officer (and the Franchise Directors who will make up your team) you will be expected to be a P&L owner, responsible for driving revenue growth and monitoring operating expenses of each therapeutic area franchise. Performance will be measured based on the return on investment from franchise building activities.

The Brands team is further supported by a Digital Marketing team providing the systems and processes for commercial and marketing activities, including an in-house ‘digital content factory’ as well as oversight of external creative agencies. Pharmanovia has a stated aim to put the patient at the heart of what we do, and you will also be expected to work closely with the Digital Marketing and Data Insights teams to foster digital therapeutics and wrap-around care activities that fit the relevant franchise plans.

It is also expected that you will work closely with Scientific Affairs (especially Clinical Development and MSL teams) helping to ensure clinical studies are designed to fulfil not just registrational requirements, but also post approval pricing and educational needs.

Main responsibilities & duties:

  • Responsibility for the Therapeutic Areas P&Ls, overseeing actions to ameliorate performance gaps (in conjunction with CCO, Commercial Excellence, Finance and other stakeholders)
  • Input and challenge of annual budget process in regards of the Therapeutic Areas P&Ls (built up geographically)
  • Building and maintaining franchise plans in each Therapeutic Area, identifying therapeutic ‘bags’ per Therapeutic Area / Geography, creating proposals for go to market approach and developing a 5-year strategy for each one
  • Product review and suggestion as part of the pipeline committee
  • Development of content / marketing strategies, and in conjunction with the Digital ‘Content Factory’ team, the roll-out of key marketing campaigns globally
  • Input into target audience selection / segmentation for each Therapeutic Area / Geography
  • Review of Digital augmented strategies
  • Internal and external speaking events to ensure fluency of strategy

About you:

With a background in branded or speciality medicines, you will be a driven and engaging change agent with experience of successfully embedding change within the pharmaceutical industry. Also required:

  • 5 Years’ + Strategic management experience
  • Degree level education, preferably in science, ideally with further qualifications in Business or Marketing
  • 10 years’ + Pharmaceutical/Healthcare sector experience (Brand or Speciality)
  • A driven and engaging change agent with experience of successfully embedding change
  • Understanding of the registration process and Value-Added Medicines
  • Understanding of Market Access and HTA processes
  • Awareness of appropriate relevant Codes of Conduct regards pharmaceutical marketing
  • Insight into sources of protection for novel or VAM pharmaceuticals
  • P&L owner, responsible for delivering return on investment of strategic projects related to commercialisation
