  • Béchir is an MD, PhD with more than 20 years of experience across healthcare, public health and global oncology
  • He will expand Pharmanovia’s global Medical Affairs function, driving medical strategy, evidence generation and scientific engagement across the company’s growing specialty portfolio

BASILDON, UK, 7 October 2026

Pharmanovia, the global specialty pharmaceutical company, today announced the appointment of Dr Béchir Ben Hadj Yahia as Global Head of Medical Affairs. Based in Paris, Béchir will lead the company’s medical organisation as Pharmanovia expands its presence in specialty oncology. In this role he will shape medical strategy and lead its execution across the portfolio, together with his medical teams in-market.

Béchir spent almost ten years at Roche in senior medical roles specialising in oncology. During his career he has worked on more than 10 oncology assets and contributed to five major launches, with a track record spanning market access, reimbursement and cross-functional leadership at local and global levels. Before joining the pharmaceutical industry, he pursued a clinical-academic career at university hospitals in Paris and Lille and served as an adviser to the French Ministry of Health’s High Council for Public Health (HCSP) and the French National Cancer Institute (INCa), giving him first-hand insight into public health decision-making.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr Stephen Deacon, Chief Scientific Officer, said: “Béchir combines medical rigour, deep oncology expertise and a rare understanding of how medicines are evaluated and adopted. As our portfolio grows, Medical Affairs will be central to the value we create for clinicians and partners alike, and Béchir is the right person to make that happen. We are delighted to welcome him.”

Dr Béchir Ben Hadj Yahia, Global Head of Medical Affairs, added: “In specialty medicine, value is created long before launch and sustained long after it. Medical Affairs sits at the heart of that journey, connecting science, clinical practice and the needs of healthcare systems. I look forward to strengthening this function with our teams around the world, so that our medicines reach the patients who need them, backed by evidence that physicians and payers can trust.”
